Just my luck. Changed oil after an hour of running with new cam. Broken spring.....

Btw if anybody thinks they might know why the very tip of the spring would break off please chime in... The only thing I can think of is maybe when installing it I got the inner spring caught underneath it? I have all 16 of my stock seats and I put every seat on so it can't be that.

Btw I have been told by 3 different people now that it is common for the spring tips to break uppon startup because of burs on the tips of the springs contacting the upper coil and this causes them to break the very tip off. For anyone looking to avoid this in the future I'm told you can take a file and smooth down the tips. I'm guessing this is what happend here. Nothing else can really explain it. Thanks for all the usefull info and Martin I will be looking into more about what we talked about over pm's.

weren't the Pacs breaking on new Hemi motors?......i have 1518's on the cam in my sig for about a year and they've been great.....but i might want to invest in a double spring set if the Pacs have been failing.....i definitely don't want to be replacing a motor because of a damned spring

The PRC's and Patriots don't normally break. But I have seen them loose tension and sag. Ever compared dyno graphs after a year or so and see the difference in the graph at the upper rpm range? Or set all 16 side by side on a flat surface and look at the difference in heights?
