Default Used cam question

im looking at getting a ms4 cam for my ls1. i thought about buying it used instead of new, to save a little money. have a few questions...
is it safe to re-use camshafts?
could the not work properly after re-install?
is this a good idea or am i better off buying a new one from texas speed?
thanks

Its just like anything used. Plenty of people buy used cams no problem. Go for it.

My cam was used. Just look it over for imperfections, before you buy.

Buying used is no issue...but my main question would be, why the ms4? I noticed you have "dd" next to your camaro in sig..if that's the case, I would definitely look into a smaller cam.

I went with a new cam kit through TSP because I figured I would purchase most of the items new anyway (springs, oil pump, chain, trays, trunion, etc.) and after breaking it down, after you purchase all of those things, the cam comes out to only be like $300-325 when you buy the kit. IMO it wasn't worth saving ~$75-150 just for used parts.

Guys above are not giving the best info IMO. Have detailed pics of it sent to you if you're buying it used. I would not put used internals in my car personal. It's a pretty vital part of an engine that I just wouldn't cheap out on. Now bolt-ons is a whole different story. I agree with the guy above though. MS4 is not going to be your friend for a dd. Go with something in the low 230's duration .590 lift area for a dd car IMO

I'm kinda half and half with buying a used cam still ..
Yes I was planing on still useing my camaro for a daily. I just want a cam that makes the car sound mean and get me close to around 400hp , but still be calm enough for daily. Do y'all have any sujestions?

I agree with this guy. However, there are people that run used cams all the time. I personally wouldn't do it.

TSP's 228r will be a good choice off the shelf. For that idle get a 111/112 lsa.
