I used ARP head bolts just because if I ever need to pull the heads off the engine I have the room to pull them out without the studs being in the way.

You should use whatever the shop used when they torqued down the deck plates for boring the block.

Another great point I forgot to mention, When my block was machined I had them use my head bolts. That is the only proper way to do it.

I prefer the studs due to the clamping force, less prone to pull threads and if you swap heads enough, you wont wear out the threads in the block.

Head studs make for kick *** pic's too..haha

I think most of us understand studs are better BUT when he says "putting together" we have to wonder how far the project is. If the shop already bored it with bolts......................

can't you just take the studs out before you pull the heads?

Little stronger material makeup, with a little higher price, vs. the 234-4316 kit. Both are 12pt. fasteners for 97-03 LS engine.
