In any event, the Schubecks are a reworked GM piece; they have just been disassembled and had damn near all of the plunge taken out of them. Last time I spoke with Joe (Schubeck), he mentioned setting them up with a thou or two positive lash (like a mechanical cam), and that thermal expansion and valve seat wear (from speaking with some folks I have learned that the valves will eventually "sink" themselves into the valve seats a little bit) will take out the slack and get into the area where that .010"-.012" of hydraulic action left in the lifters actually results in zero lash. The only trick is that pushrod length is absolutely critical (unless you have adjustable rockers).

We'll see what we'll see, I guess...

BurnOut,thanks for the info.Damn sounds like they could be a PITA to get right and an adjustable rocker might almost be needed.If set up right they would be great on a big lift cam.

That leaves Comp and Crane or are these just glorified stock lifters?

I have the lifters and today we spun the car over only to find out that the pushrods I was told to get were too long (7.350) which led to no compression and the valves were hung open. We will now try a 7.300 or 7.250 for the pushrods. We will pick up a measuring tool and find out what exactly the length is. These lifters are nice pieces and is the next best thing to solid roller without the adjustment you have to go through and another thing is it allows you to spin it up above 7000 rpms... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Smile]" src="gr_stretch.gif" />

The Schubeck lifters are called 0 lash but have .010 to .012 of lash.The downside is that they are $399 a set.

Does Comp or Crane make a high performance lifter for our LS1s?Are they any good?
