Angry Problem

I just got the car about a moth ago. I drove it for about 2 weeks and the low oil light came on. I had to put 2 quarts of oil in it. Two days later I took it in for an oil change. Two weeks after that the low oil light came on again. I put about 2 quarts of oil in it. It is not leaking oil must be burning oil. Any one might know how it is doing that? Going to take it in to service.

Wow, that's a lot of oil to be leaking...do you see smoke coming out the exhaust?

Well there are several possibilities here. It could be you that your rings are shot and that you are getting a lot of blowby thus causing the burning oil. Another could be you need a new or better PCV system possibly with a catch can to monitor how well it is working. If there is a bunch of oil in the intake itself then you could probably try the PCV mod to see if it helps. I doubt though that burning that much oil can be attributed to the PCV system by itself, more than likely it is a combination of alot of positive crankcase pressure (PCV system) and blown rings.

You're obviously in AZ. Did you buy the car locally? If so who from? We've had a few hundred fbody owners in the Arizona Fbody association over the past year and a half, I'm sure we could pinpoint whose car it was....

Also, maybe they never got the piston ring fix when GM came out with a TSB for cars with oil consumption issues. My car was eating oil before it got fixed.

If you see blue smoking coming out of the exhaust thats not the best thing......my friends 98z constantly burns oil, I know my crappy stock 2001 motor did, I was going through a QT about every 200 miles, it got worse after I added the charger
