Ls1 engine removal
Ls1 engine removal I've searched and came across some tutorials but im looking for a really good one with pics and everything, any options? Also found a video not sure how good is it
My plan is not to remove the engine but change the whole front since they're selling me the whole front en suspension for $200 and i just needed a rack replace but saw this offer and said why not,

Not knocking you but engine R&R is a pretty strait forward procedure. You should be able to look at it and figure out how you want to Remove. If your not one of those people with a visual computer in your head (an engineer's mind) then you can try the SVC manual. Best how to out there.

when i first took my motor out i used that video and other info on this web site to smooth over the rough spots i found cause i'm not as tech savvy as the younger guys. any info that helps along the way makes things easier. " work smarter not harder" the oldman....
yeah doing it carefully don't want to mess anything up some people told me its easier than Im thinking, but Ill see what I can do will need help cause its not easy doing it by yourself. with the motor and trans out, Im guessing a heads/cam project will be pretty easy

and this it with me using a cherry picker to lift the car and jackstands. no lift. just take you time man, and raise/lower it VERY slowly in a silent garage to listen for anything getting caught up. and you dont need to remove the pcm or unhook it or anything so save a little time there.
I dropped mine out the bottom and it wasn't bad at all. I watched that video a few times and looked at the engine removal thread a few times. Took maybe 6 hours doing it mainly by myself the first time.
If the transmission is already removed is it that hard taking the engine out the top?
Way I see it is taking it out the top you still have to remove everything like you would the bottom, except you don't have to remove brake lines so you don't have to bleed brakes which to me is a big plus. Seems like i can never get the brake lines bleed as good as factory.
Also if you drop the entire k-member do you need to get an alignment again? seems like your alignment be off, as there has to be play in how the k member bolts up????

The link sabresaw30 gave you is an excellent one. Print it out in color and follow it step by step. If you have the means to lift the car pulling the engine from the top is foolish! I did the first f-body engine removal from the top. It is a pain in the ***! You don't even have to remove the radiator when you go from the bottom.
