What are your cam specs? Sounds like a ptv clearance issue but without know what cam it's hard to tell.

I didn't have any issues with the TV2 and a set of milled 5.3 heads.

i have not seen PTV problems with the Torquer V2, although possible, it is more likely that your cam is not installed correctly, or your pushrods are to long. did you do a rocker swipe test?

I have untouched 243s but I was just reading somewhere when installing the aftermarket rockers each set you install that cylinder needs to be tdc and the motor is a 98 ls1 with 02 243s 7.4 pushrods

You may need shorter pushrods with the LS7 lifters, I had to go 0.050" shorter to get the right preload (~0.070). Not sure if this is directly causing your problem or not.

Did the motor just turn over when you tried to start or did it make any popping or backfire noise? Also your car is a 98, if you're still using the 98' coil harness, you have to make sure the the LH & RH harness are not swapped.. The car will not run if they are.. The pin-outs are different from 99-02 models that can be swapped. If you still have your factory rocker arms, I would throw those back on & try again.. I can't see 7.4's being to long on un-milled 243's.. I run 7.425's on my 243's with a much larger cam.

Yes it did make a. Backfire noise I don't have my stock 1s anymore I'm using the ls7 lifters with these rocker arms the only thing I can think of is prs to long... Are you using stock rockers?

Yes, I'm running LS7 lifters & my cam is 236 on intake duration using longer 7.425 pushrods.. Are you still using ur old 98 coil harnesses? Make sure the coil leads are in this order.

1. PPL
3. LT BLU
5. BRN
7. DK GRN

2. RED
4. DK GRN/WHT
6. BRN/WHT
8. LT BLU/WHT

if it backfired its sounds like its popping through intake.. so perhaps a valve is stuck open. (from rocker adjusted too tight, too long of pushrod)
