I bet its fuel from a faulty injector. Seems unlikely you have a coolant leak that smells like gas.

Check fuel rail pressure (attach an external pressure gauge on end of rail) with engine running and then shutdown.

i have a fuel pressure gauge but with a faulty sending unit. i ordered a new sending unit and once it comes in, ill throw it on there and post the results.
