Piston Slap Poll
have a 02 silverado with 110k miles, engine runs strong.
is used to tow boat, car and trailer, has some piston slap upon startup
for about 10-15 sec., oil consumption no more than any other ls vehicle ive owned, never noticed hi oil consumption, valvetrain noise or slap in 5.7 i owned before

When it was cold, mine slapped so bad it sounded like a diesel. It still ran like hell when I sold it. My oil consumption seemd to be from the pcv. When I swapped intakes the original one was dripping with oil. If I get another ls1 its gonna have a breather
i have 101k on my car, 50k of which i put on it. it sucks about a quart of oil in 3k miles, sounds like a diesel, shakes and rattles, but rolls out when the throttle goes down.. gotta love the ls1..
kinda diesel-ly for the first min or so. Especially when cold because it isn't garaged. Sound disappears by the time the temp gauge gets a little bit past the first mark.
91k and runs like a bat out hell so I don't think there is a prob. 1/2 quart between changes (maybe that much)
I just don't romp on it till proper operating temp

I would have voted in two categories if I could have.
1. I have mild piston slap in cold weather for 10 to 30 seconds.
2. I've got about 70 k miles and no performance loss, no excessive oil consumption.
I'm extremely satisified with my engine and the mild piston slap is not an issue with me. Most modern engine designs have short piston skirts and are subject to some slap.

My car went 13.4 @ 106 with 160k on the clock. Stock w/ just a lid...m6 and regular street tires.
Whether it lost performance or not, I'm not sure...I don't know what it did new. But 13.4 wtih 160k miles on it...I wouldn't consider it having lost much.
Also, it had a minor tick in cold weather for the first minute. Only ticked a little under a load, and went away by the time I got to the end of the block.

You need some more choices.
: I have no noticable piston slap
: I have barely noticable piston slap for a minute or so after start-up.
Mine bounces back and forth bewteen both of them.

I really think the x3 and the wet 100shot had somthin to do with it. granted it only had 2 bottles of the shot, but PHX only has 91 octane, and i'm not sure if the previous owner ran race fuel when he sprayed it. coupled with the AZ heat, it equaled a 4-5 thousand dollar F%ck up.
