370 forged build questions/ parts review
How's it going guys/gals..
I am planning on a new engine build for my 98 trans am. I am leaning towards a lq9/lq4 with l92 heads. 370ci with forged internals minus crank.
Here is my parts list:
SCAT h-beam connecting rods, 6.125, forged 4340.
DSS sx-series forged flat tops w/ valve reliefs pre-cut.
ARP head stud kit.
OEM ls7 int/exh rocker arms.
OEM roller lifters.
Comp Cams pushrod lifter checker.
I want to use most of my parts from the ls1. Alternator, waterpump, etc.
My question is, with selling my ls1 as a complete long block without accessories. How much could i sell it for. I work at a local shop, with access to machine equipment. I figured i would be able to build this motor, sell my old motor, and roughly break even, maybe a grand outta pocket. Minus whatever i sell from the lq9 engine.
What do ya'll think.

The ls7 rockers will not fit ls3 style heads to my knowledge. And they are a 1.8 ratio.
Other than that everything looks pretty straight forward. I have pretty close to the same setup.
I see no mention of a cam, so I will suggest the cam I have. It's an EPS 230/242 .603/.605 113.

Thanks for the cam input. Ive done so much research into the lq9/l92 setup, but for the life of me, cant remember what the correct rocker setup is. If i may ask, what power numbers are you laying down.

My build is still coming together. I have a few other projects to finish up before I start on the camaro.
As for rockers, use the 8 exhaust rockers you already have and buy 8 ls3 style intake rockers and stands. Do the trunion upgrade on them and be done.
Power I'm expecting is 450-475 at the wheels thru a 6 speed and 9 inch. With all stock parts except cam and pistons.

looks like im building this engine within the next week or so. stock motor spun a rod bearing. any one have a definitive answer on what headbolts i should run. do i need to check the manufactured date on the block to verify the correct bolts

If you took your headbolts off just check if there are 3 different sizes or not. If you don't have them to go by check the manufacturing date. Different length headbolts are pre 2004

thanks baronsmith98, i purchased the block from a friend as a complete short block. no heads, so i will go to the machine shop and check the dates. But good news is, pistons, rods, headgaskets, timing set, front gasket kit, oil pan gasket kit, rear main kit, heads, lifters, and rockers are ordered, now just to wait to measure the pushrod length. then i'll order the pushrods, intake and throttle body
