Piston slap - class action
Scraped cylinder walls are more likely the result of someone driving the car hard while it is cold.
And I for one am thankful that GM built and sold a high hp car, and sold it to me cheaply. You have to wonder if racing and mod related warranty claims didn't help with the decision to stop building these cars.

My car does seem to use a lot of oil. I usually get a low oil light between each oil change

But I've heard that's fairly normal for the ls1.
Your definition of cheap may vary, but I doubt anyone can argue that there was not a single car for the money that offered comperable performance.
I understand what egg shaped means, but if you can see a few thousandths out of round, then you have really good eyes. Most people can't see .030" (thats about what size ridge your fingernail will hang on).

01-06-01-023A JUN 02 Engine - Higher Than Normal Oil Consumption
It was item #26 on the summary.
They are suppose to install some kind of baffle somewhere under the intake on mine while it's torn down and check for the O-ring TSB. He wasn't even aware of the O-ring one and I brought it up, so he looked it up.
For people who think piston slap doesn't cause a problem.....wrong!!!!
