Default 230/234 112 + 4 idle clip

Hello guys.
I dont post much on the forums but my hole project is based on research on this forum and I just want to share my first start up. Some of the best tips and advise on here... thanks to LS1TECH my 1st ever cam swap turned out great!

Custom speced cam kit by Geoff at EPS complete with LS7 lifters, self ported heads (rocker stud hump removal and port matching), ported stock throttle body with half shaft mod.

cheers
Riaan

Nice! Sounds sweet once the idle starts to drop down.

Sounds awesome!!!! After hearing that I'm really looking forward to firing mine (almost the same cam). Do you have any valvetrain noise? What pushrods did you end up with?

7.425 and no valve train noise whatsoever my stock setup wasn't even this quiet.

Thanks guys, I can't wait to take her out! Wonder how much power I am leaving on the table with these lobes?

I doubt you leaving any on the table with the EPS lobes.

They're not EPS lobes, they are LXL lobes. Its the first thing on the vid.

My bad, so then you did leave a little power on the table, but you've got better valve train stability especially in the upper rpm range.

I'm not sure you really lose anything with LXL lobes. See below comparison I did on a "230" lobe. You can see the duration is the same at .050 & .200 with greater lift on LXL. The LXL stretches out 3 more degrees between .006 & .050, making the valve open & close more smoothly. I realize you don't get a complete picture of cam profiles plotting 7 points but it appears like they are similar.

EPS 230 duration @.006"-279, @.050"-230, @.200"-151.....600 lift
LXL 230 duration @.006"-282, @.050"-230, @.200"-151.....609 lift

Interesting thanks! So 450 wheel with mild ported 243's would be reasonable?
What cam are you going with and do you tune yourself?

In actuality, Geoff designed his lobes to do just that. They offer the best valvetrain stability of any lobe even with all the lift his cams provide and still produce good power numbers. His cams also promote the longevity of the valvetrain without the jerk charateristics that most lobes do.

There are more lobes out there that will most likely make more power like LSL and LSK lobes but they are harder on valvetrain components. EPS lobes are acutually in the Comp catalog as "LSG" lobes.

Sounds mean. Do you know what valve springs were used?

Not sure you were asking me, but.....

I'm not really a good dyno / HP predictor, but from what I've read you might need a Fast intake to get 450?

I have a 230/234-113+2 cam in there now but I haven't lit it up yet. Also have new PRC LS6 heads too and hope to have a Fast 92 by spring. The previous setup was EPS 226/230 & ported 241's and I tuned it myself w/ EFILive. Very similar setup to yours.
