Anyone running a Tick Street Heat cam?
#61
Ordered the stage 2 street heat cam over the weekend, can't wait to install it and get this motor running. I'll post up dyno numbers and a review once I get to that point but all you other guys will probably get results a lot faster than me. I've still got to build the rest of the car lol. Thanks again for all the help Martin!

Good deal! With your CNC ported heads and them being 5.3's with a slightly smaller runner than most ported stock heads, the compression you're going to have and that cam, the torque curve on this thing is going to be flat for days! In a lighter car like your BMW and Corvette's, the Street Heat Stage 2 is a beast.
It also works well in under-geared stalled automatic F-bodies. It doesn't pump out huge numbers in a stalled F-body, but with the average power it makes it helps pull the car back through the RPM range with it's wide power and torque curve. With steeper gears and/or in a lighter car a peakier power curve would be faster, but with longer rear gears that comes in stock cars and stock automatic F-bodies it produces awesome track times.

Bumping this back up...Martin is there a big difference between the LS2 SteetHeat Stage 1 cam vs. the two LS2 SNS torqueMax Stage 1 cams (in terms of power delivery and driveability)
Looking for something relatively mild that will start making good power and torque at around 4000rpm for a mild stalled automatic.

What is the stall speed of your converter? Rear gear? Vehicle weight?

Since it is a DD I would also consider the milder lobe option for extended valve spring longevity.

If this is a 364 cubic inch engine we are talking about I would personally then add a little exhaust duration into the profile. With a later opening exhaust valve event the larger motor will want to fall off quicker in terms of torque after peak and opening that exhaust valve a few degrees earlier gives the exhaust port a little more time to fully evacuate the cylinder and gives the piston more time to blow down making for a longer torque curve. More torque at a higher rpm equals more horsepower as well so I would definitely go to the 222/230 .59x"/.60x" 110+2 "milder" LS2 Stage 1 TorqueMAX.

Looking for a cam for a ls1 stroked to 383, 2.5 ls6 heads, ls6 manifold, 1&7/8s headers, etc... Was thinking one of the stage 3 cams. Def want a choppy idle and good mid range. Going in a lightened foxbody....

Depending on the type of transmission used and what the intended purpose of the vehicle will be could contain many different cam profiles.
With a car as light as a fox body, down low torque isn't as precious as it would be in a heavier car. You've got your sights set right if you're worried about mid range for sure as that's what will make a car like this fun to drive.

Hello I was wondering if you'd recommend a torque converter and gear set up for my 2004 silverado 5.3 ext cab 2wd. I have the stage 2 street heat cam 229/235 but not sure what stall and gears to get on it. It's my daily, has cold air intake, 42lb injectors, built tranny, 3.73 posi, long tube headers, and tune. Or would you recommend another cam for it as well?

This customer's second outing at the track after the cam got him an 11.60 pass @116 in a full weight automatic 93mph in the eighth. 10.4:1 compression and very lightly ported 243 heads and stock ls6 intake/tb/maf slp lid, ory, corsa cat back. This was in a 6.0 bored .030 over. With a set of nicer heads, a full point of added compression or more and a fast intake this would be a low 11 high 10 second car all day long.
