Default Displacment decisions

Okay my car has been down for awhile now and im ready to get started on it. I want something Thats gonna be reliable but also has some power when i want it to. My existing mods: Stg 3 243 p&p heads, 12 bolt 4.30 gears, 42lb injectors, Big ***** Thumpr cam (changing to a MS4 or open to suggestions) Then most other bolt on mods shifter airl lid etc.
Keeping a budget in mind:
1) rebuild stock bottom end and go with it.
2) 370CI with forged Pistons and rods
3) 383CI forged internals (stretching the budget)
Im also open to any other ideas or builds you guys have had success with. Thanks

If you wanna criticize me for doing a budget build dont bother commenting i wanna do the best i can for the budget i got.

Go with a Thomspson Motorsports 370.. By far the best short to buy on somewhat of a budget.

I wasn't on a tight budget, but I did have a certain amount of money to spend on my short block and I had to keep that in mind.

He has some awesome deals! Kyle is stand up and will take care of you, possibly the best warranty work I have ever seen.

Just came to mind.. I got a buddy that is considering selling his brand new TMS 370, it is built almost identical to mine. He bought it a couple months ago but decided to build an entire different platform altogether. I'm sure you could pick it up for a good price.
He even has a set of l92 heads to go with it if that is the route you want to take.. Freshly checked from the machine shop.

You will not have to fly-cut those pistons. Aftermarket pistons 9/10 come with at least a .200" valve relief already cut in them.

See Martin's post... These valve reliefs are HUGE. I am running a decent size cam and could still mill my heads if I want down the road. It is one of the reasons I chose those pistons, I love them.

CR is actually 11.9:1.. I will be running 93 octane, it is a street car.

What about a 347? You can do that on a very modest budget with a forged piston and stock rod.

Oh okay. Find me a price yet? Yeah a 347 crossed my mind. Figured the price difference isn't enough to go with the smaller cubes.
