Should I mill my 5.3 heads?
I just got a set of the 5.3 heads. I'm doing a stock rebuild of my LS1 with Diamond forged pistons to handle the NOS 5177 kit.
The 5.3's are a stage 1 port job. Do I just want to bolt them on or should I mill them. How much should I mill them?

I wouldn't mill them. I believe the 5.3 heads on an LS1 will raise the compression about half a point as it is. What size valves ado they have (I assume not stock because those are smaller than stock 5.7 heads)?
Where are they from?
What are you doing with the stock heads (I need some seriously!)

When I was going to use my 5.7 heads, the builder said I needed to mill the heads to get back to the stock compression. This was due to the new forged pistons dropping the CR a little. So he said that milling the 5.7's .003 would bring it back to 10.1
Mikey, my block is cracked too, I found out yesterday.
