Default stroking an engine with factory pistons and shorter rods?

1st post. new to site
For example, lets say an lq4 408 stroker crank and shorter rods and factory pistons to have the factory piston height at tdc. For a na build on low mileage motor, it would save boring block and new pistons or would a shorter rod bring the piston down too far at bdc?
and will crank throws on a 408 interfere with a fbody ls1 oil pan / windage tray? im guessing its not 408 on a standard bore...
Also the stock piston height with more cubes would raise the compression ratio also correct? without having piston come any closer to the head?
I dont reuse toilet paper but i like cheap...

You need longer rods in a stroker engine so the pistons clear the crank. Your scenario will not work.

^ what he said. the crank counter weights will clash with the piston at BDC with that scenario.

You need everything to match: crank, rods, and pistons. Stroker pistons have the wrist pin boss located differently. You also need to know in advance how much your cylinders will be bored. For a 408 you need to bore .030". You can also go .005" (403) or .010" (404) if you want. A stock 4" bore with a 4" stroke is 402 CID. A decent rotating assembly will cost you at least $1800 new. Sometimes you can find good used deals in the classified ads section.
