Default Urgent Answers Needed: 408 Build

Couple quick and dumb questions for guys:
1: where are the intake valves on LSA heads? I believe that they are the first valve in the cluster from the front of the engine to the back.

2: what valve lash or gap do i need between the valve tops and the rocker? Im running stock LS3 rockers and my cam is a 236 intake and 242 exhaust 114 LSA + 3.

3: what is valve preload?

Thanks in advance for ur help. This is my first LSX build.

Intake valve is first

Rockers are net lash

Preload is set with push rod length. You need to measure and get proper preload depending on your lifters.

Intake valve is in line with the intake runner

Rockers have no spec to set for valve lash

Preload is the amount of pressure on the spring when closed and like bww said it is set with the push rod length

Thanks guys. I got the rockers and pushrods in last night. The engine builder measured the pushrods before he sent em to me. Any other adjustments i need to check on the valve train?

preload is the distance the lifter plunger is depressed into the lifter body.

Wipe pattern, pushrod to head clearance...just a general over look.

I may not be thinking correctly, but if your building the engine, how did the builder measure your pushrod length before the heads were on the car??

you can use a dry marker on the valve stem tip to check for a good rocker swipe pattern .
