Default New heads (thompsons)

I've been looking at the thompson motor sport cnc ported ls6 heads they have on ebay for quite a while now. I'm wondering would I be able to just bolt these on, or should I have my block resurfaced before I do? I can't really afford to do all that so I'm hoping not. What do you guys think? My motor has 72k miles. I was gonna do a whole top end rebuild. Any advice?

How many miles on the car? New top end gasket set, plus new bolts should be all you need. We of course offer both of those for great prices.

Head Bolts Remember to order 2! 1 per side.

Complete Top End Gasket Set Everything you need for the swap.

72k miles. that's what I hoped. Only new gasket and bolts. With those everything should be all good and seal ok?

72k mile, and as long as the block has never been overheated, you should be find with just new gaskets.

Personally, I always replace all the gaskets you see there. This includes EGR, Valve Cover, Intake, Throttle Body. I know of more then one situation where some-one has re-used intake gaskets throttle/body gaskets and have had vacuum issues.

If you feel comfortable replacing just the head gaskets and bolts, we can obviously cater to that as well.
MLS LS1 Head gaskets.

All items are in stock and ready to ship!

Thanks,
Kyle

Smart man.

I myself had 15x,xxx on the clock when I did myu heads and cam. Just be prepared to spend about 3 hours getting the deck surface clean. My 01 block had graphite gaskets. You can imagine the fun I had...

I used a combination of green scotch brite pads and a flat razor with the holder-thing to clean mine off. Around the head dowels was a pain but it takes what it takes.

Several cans of brake cleaner, and for "lube" so to speak, I used a can of "Kroil." Worked like a charm, and I had a nice shiny dime to bolts the AFR's to.

I always use an angle grinder and a white, light abraisive pad that doesnt take any metal off. Took about an hour! Why go around the head dowels when you can just remove them lol? Work smart not hard!

Sierra, it says it's not intended for race applications. Yes it will be a DD when I'm done and I'll be putting down around 420 hp to the wheels with my ls1. And I drive pretty hard. Would these still be adequate?

And I plan on just replacing everything while I have my heads off.

No problems with the OEM MLS head gaskets. They of course are not recommended, as no OEM items is not intended for racing, yet people still use their stock T56 in a 10 second car.

Depending on who you ask, one very thin coat of "copper coat" has been applied with excellent results for higher HP applications.

Feel free to call if you have any other questions, as I am always willing to give advise for late model applications.

Thanks,
Kyle
