Default Cam gurus help!

My cam 236/248 .617 .617 110. Geoff at eps spec.

I was wondering how much I could mill the heads before I have to fly cut. They will be a set of 243s.

I would call Geoff but I think his number changed. Idk

Not much if any.. The 236 intake w/ 110 lsa needs to be measure even on a untouched set.. The tighter lsa cuts down the clearance.

Are you running a vic jr intake & 4150 tb? Looks like a good single plane cam.

I talked to him 2 weeks ago. He picks up. He calls from a different number, but the incoming number is what's posted above.

a friends 234 dur intake on 110 +4 lsa had all kinds of eyebrows shifting at 6500. I doubt you can mill any and retain sufficient ptv. I'd guess when u pull the heads you'll see your own eyebrows ha

Yeah I am guessing so. I might go with a smaller cam to get some milled heads. Not real sure. I love my cam though

Get your heads ported...not polished.

Before you send the heads off for porting, use them, your valves, sand paper on the valves, and a drill to cut yourself some valve reliefs.

If you fly-cut you need to use bigger valves than what you have to make the reliefs. After fly-cut you can mill for desired compression.

When you roll the paper around the valve it will cut bigger, but a bigger valve is more desired. Thanks

Most builders like .050 arc increase, I've used .040 bigger with no issues. Using 2.00 valve for 2.00 flycuts is playing with fire.

The sticky paper usually cuts .04-.06 bigger rolled over the edge of the valve iirc. For your 2.00 size you'd cut out circles 2.07-2.1" in the paper, stick it to the valve as close to center as possible, and cut. The excess rolls itself over the edge and helps cut bigger, plus the sticky paper is fairly thick. Its been a while since Ive used that method though. I'd rather just buy a set of Mahle's.
