Default 2004 gto ls1/auto 70k advice on head/cam/intake for best bang for my buck

I have a 04 GTO LS1 auto with 70k on it, I already have Kooks long tube headers, no cats, a SCT programmer, K&N intake, I am ready to break into the engine and was wandering if anyone has any suggestions? I have been told to run a 85mm throttle body, with a BBK intake, ported 243 heads and .600 cam. Is anyone running about the same combo and what kind of numbers have you got?

Definitely get some 243 heads, even unported with a clean mill is a good upgrade compared to what you have now and much cheaper than aftermarket heads.

Get a 219 CNC port job from AI on your existing heads. Specify chamber size needed, no loss in ptv (no mill).
Forget about the BBK, either go FAST or just keep your LS6. It is good to 450rwhp if H/C is well put together and well tuned.
Cam, I suggest like a 228/232 110+1 LSA
With 60cc chambers and stock mls gasket, you should be in the 10.9 SCR and 8.4 DCR.

Do you have a stall for the car?

SCT programmer? Is this some sort of hand held? If so, toss that aside when you cam it and get a real tune. For a tight budget, find some low mileage 243 heads, install new springs, and call it good. If you can afford ported ones, great. Forget the BBK intake and TB. Like was said, you have a LS6 intake already and it's fine. Save that money for a higher stall converter. Not sure what your goals are, so I'm not going to recommend a specific cam, but call Tick Performance, they can fix you up with a cam. You'll probably be close to 400 hp (A4 cars dyno low).

I agree with all said. Don't get cheap when modding and do it right.

I will go with a converter, and I am almost sure about the 243 or 799 heads, it has 241 on it now, I believe the stock intake is a 75mm, and want to flow it better,it seems everyone likes the ls-6 intake, the SCT programmer is a handheld, with options of a custom tune thru them. I dont plan on a turbo, supercharging or NOS,but trying to keep up newer mustangs and camaros, I would really like to get into the 11s , and feel if I was to try to faster than that I know a 6.0 or 6.2 is needed, I am trying to work on a budget and keep it streetable. Thanks for all the input. Chris
