A good merge will eliminate 90% of the drone commonly associated with y-pipe set-ups. It will also aid in scavenging which is a plus all the way across the rpm range.

Thanks, Martin. That's what I figured.

I know LG uses the Burns merge on their Y-Pipes, and it's really expensive ~$350, but with something like that, most Y-pipe setups would equal true duals if it were dual 3" into a single 4" merge.

Well played sir, well played.

I debated buying the same system but had some other areas that needed addressing. This car is going to be bad *** when done.

Agreed.

My wife has been "tollerant" of my hobby thus far. Time will tell how long she lives with it!

Jake's wife might be tempted to stab him in his sleep as his current pace though lol.

She seems to be okay with it for now.

The problem is, she won't be when she first hears the car startup with the cam and that exhaust on there. Dogs barking. Car alarms going off. Windows shaking.

Glorious!

The Bassani setup has one "S" bend that goes under the panhard bar, and the other goes over it. Both pipes go over the rear axle. You can see it here: https://www.google.com/search?q=Bass...ml%3B600%3B800

Congrats on the Kooks TD purchase. I went back and forth on the "Y vs. TDs" decision and ultimately decided on TDs as well. I didn't get them so much for flow but for the sound. Besides, when you add up the cost of a good Y merge setup, electric cutout, and a good catback you have almost paid for a TD system.

Yea. Mybad I knew it went under something. My brain just told me the rearend for some reason. Either way I would fab it so it didnt

If a fabbed ypipe and cutout and catback cost as much as a kooks TDs then something is wrong. I only have 580 bucks in my setup I posted above. Thats without headers since you need those either way.

Yeah once you get a deal on the Kooks LTs an TDs it's really only a little more than a y-pipe setup. Hell if you did ARH and Corsa, the TDs are cheaper with the BMR stuff!

Their price is a lot better when you call. You can buy the kit WITH the headers for only a little bit more than that... shipped.

My Bassani TDs are even cheaper than the Kooks, plus no need for a panhard relocation. I can't post where I got my TDs because they aren't a sponsor, but trust me, I thought the whole thing through a lot before going TDs. You have to consider the cost of the cutout, electric butterfly valve, good 3"-4" Y merge, and the extra cost of having it all fabbed together. It gets expensive quickly. Plus, there's always the possibility of having to replace the electric cutout when it fails. That's an instant $150+

i posted what my setup cost. but i do agree that if your comparing the Bassani TDs to a higher end overpriced catback then yes i would rather have the Bassani setup. when i looked at the Bassani TDs they where like $1000 or 1200 if you add in the phb relocate cheaper then the kooks TDs. and i think the Bassani sounds better then the kooks system tbh.

Got the Lunati Retro-fit Trunion Rockers today.

I tested each one out by hand to see if any had any hitch and to make sure all had a little side-to-side play in the bearing. All 16 passed the side-to-side play test but 3 had a slight hitch on smooth operation. Looks like the bearing might be pressed in ever so slightly too far. I'll probably just put them in a vice with a socket and press them back out slightly so they operate smoothly.

Here are the pics:

Lunati kit comes preassembled with new GM rockers. Got them for 268... Which a lot less than Comp Kit + new rockers (not to mention labor that these have).
