I am shooting for 500 RWHP in my 402 LS2. Currently at 11.5:1 cr, LG G5X3 cam, LS6 heads making 410rwhp with a slipping clutch. Need to upgrade the heads and LS1 intake/throttle body still.

You're going to need to beef up your drivetrain to handle the power and rpms, so 10k is most definitely what you will need to spend.
Your not wrong, would easily cost more than 10g. I spent well over that just doing my stout head/cam 346. Mast ls3 heads, Jesel rockers, tie bar lifters, cam, fuel system, manifold, exhaust, etc

After building my LS1, I can vouch that going more cubes is cheaper in the long run. All the money you would potentially pour into a 383 to make 550 Rwhp can just as easily be poured into a 418 or 427 and you end up with more street-able power.

just do a 408 its essentially the same money, I like my 383 but I still kick myself in the *** for not doing a 408. It would have been cheaper in the long run. All I had to buy different was a used 6.0 block for a couple hundred bucks and then easily sold my factory LS6 block for more than that. Plus the 4" bore opens up your head possibilities, you can run some 1500 dollar cncd ls3 heads that will outflow pretty much any cathedral port on the market.

I doubt you will be able to get 550rwhp out of a 383 unless its completely unstreetable. 500rwhp through a 6spd and a 10 bolt would be feasable.

About the only advantage to the 383 is keeping the aluminum block, it is sorta nice not to have the extra 100+ pounds on the nose.

Heads and power are not all about flowing "better" than another design. A cathedral port head will almost always be more ideal for a 4" bore application than a comparable rectangular port head such as the LS3/L92.

i can buy a 6.0 iron block but like everyone says it weighs 100 more lbs. but icould start on a build with that and easily come up with 550+hp? i would deff want to put ls3 heads on them and i guess i would be happy with 500 rwhp with the 383. just was curious is 550 was possible. i still gotta change my intake tb maf and injectors then i would be pretty close.. maybe use some spray then i would be legit. just curious for the guys thats built 6.0 blocks.. canu give me som pointers and ideas?

i think i could reach maye skim the 500 mark or 515. change my SLP 1.3/4 headers for some 1 7/8. change my ported ls6 intake and 80 mm tb and corvette maf and 36 lb injectors. to a fast 102 ported intake, nw tb, 100mm maf, and 42 lb injectors. im already at 11.5 cr. good hyd roller cam 235/247@.050 620/624 lift 114 lsa. made 459rwhp/436 rwtq. id be happyto get on or little over 500 rwhp mark na. spray can be added later. its just a goal id like to get to. i would consider changing out the heads. but its hard to beat cnc ls6 243 heads with sodium valves for the price.
