Angry Scorpion Roller Rockers

So before I bought these I heard bad things like they break under high rpms and what not well I called scorpion and talked to a representative and he said that the issue was with the first batch and it had been taken care of I ordered mine from summit about a year ago I was driving and merging into traffic and started getting a bad misfire i went to autozone and the car was throwing p0102 p1133 p0135 codes so i put new plugs new wires new maf and new o2s i checked all my coils with a spark tester checked my voltage at the maf checked every possible thing i could think of I thought it was my tune which is not the best but the cars power dropped off so i pulled the valve cover and found this so now im going to be dropping the oil pan and praying that the pieces that broke are in my oil pan I plan on calling scorpion tomorrow

I've used them in old school Chevy small blocks, but a 1.5 ratio is much easier on rockers than 1.7 ratio. Maybe that's why I rarely hearing the LS people using them?

I would be cautious and check the cam lobe, lifter tray, and the roller lifter are not damaged. It is seldom just what you see when first opening up an engine that is the culprit of damage.

Yeah im going to be pulling the heads to put some 5.3 heads on and putting new lifters in im hoping it just slapped the lifter up into the tray and didnt damage the cam lobe I talked to scorpion and there making a new set they said it looked like I had the old set that had problems with breaking great customer service though I was offered a new rocker to get me through till the new ones were made but I have to tear into the motor before I run it again and find all the aluminum from it

Your SBC probably isnt a 1.7 ratio rocker. 1.7 is a lot harder on rockers than a 1.5 ratio.

maybe use a big magnet to drag any pieces in the pan towards the oil drain hole, use a small magnet to pull any thing out oil drain hole.

I had these break on me only because I didn't change my valve seats for dual springs and coil bind occurred. Ever since these have seen 6,900rpm plenty times and no issues.

Redms3, welcome to LS1tech! SEARCH will be your best friend around here.

Your first post must be the longest run-on sentence in LS1tech history!

It looks like it's just one rocker arm that broke? Maybe it was just a flaw in that one.

There's to many busted rocker arms between scorpion, yella terra, pro comp (ebay) and a few cranes as well.

Funny how theres rarely any crower or jesels breaking but maybe thats because they are $800+
