For 5 grand, good luck man. A nice reliable 600whp setup will run you 10+ easy. I would say closer to 15 grand if you used very nice components.

A stroked LS2 can hit 600hp in the right hands, easily. 358 c.i. motors are making 830hp with one single 730 cfm carburetor and a flat tappet cam every sunday, so why couldn't an LS1 or LS2 make 600? If you built it to make HP at very hi rpm it would easily make 600hp, so, I will disagree with you on that one.

actually Im closer to 30k including my car on my turbo build.. Ill be @ 600-700 on 12psi on the street, and hopefully 800 on kill mode...

lets see how long my aluminum block last

15 grand is IMHO borderline budget, my engine/rear/tranny is close to $11,000 and thats not including supporting mods..

I didn't say a stroked ls2 though...
