That's a small cam for a 408 (and not ideal for ls3 heads either) but it will work but you're leaving power on the table

Will it work, yes but there will be some room for improvement. Get a custom grind that matches your setup.

Off-the-shelf grinds are usually pretty proven and common with what most people are wanting to obtain. If you are wanting to go ***** deep on the drag strip I would say no. These guys are all correct. If you want it, get it. You wouldn't have asked if you didn't think that it was what you were semi-looking for. The good news is, either way you slice it, the cam (whether you chose custom or not) will be the same price give or take 20$.

Its a bit small for a 402 in my opinion but the real question is, what are your goals? Do you have a power range in mind? Is this a daily driver? Whats it going in? Etc?

For starters a better cam and the heads could benefit from a valve job and milling. But unless you have valve reliefs or want to flycut your pistons youre gonna be limited on how big of a cam and milling you can do.

An STS kit and a zO6 cam will get you to 550.
