Insights on "Lunati 395 Stroker"
Insights on "Lunati 395 Stroker" Here in the near future I need an engine rebuild...What do you guys think of this kit?..I am looking at the kit which comes with 10.6 to 1 compression...Maybe a little 200 shot will work well with this...

I wouldn't do it. The 4.125" stroke side loads the piston as it nears BDC. Stick to 4.00" stroke. I'm sure some will do it, but it is far from a good idea. There just isn't enough deck height.

so far I have 15k miles on mine. Racing the **** out of it. Pulling it to 7000rpm to the rev limiter.
I was having a lil oil consumption but in the last 2000 miles I have burned exactly .1 quarts since my last oil change. No problems.
I know I am going to go with a big bore block down the road so I wanted to maximize the cubes.

You may have good reliability out of it for a while, but like Denz said, the side load and the deck height are big problems. Using that much stroke places the wrist pin hign in the ring landings. I think it comes out to a .957" deck height. From what I have seen, you should stay over 1.00" on deck height. Deffinatlly not something you would want to spray unless you had some custom pistons made. You should really call Lunati on it. They'll give you the skinny on whats good for it and whats not.

i think you will be just fine there are a lot of these motors out on the street that have no problems at all.......4.125 is not to much i know a lot of 409 lt1s with a 4.25 stroke that have the **** sprayed out of them and zero problems....

Ok, you guys seem rather knowlegable on this subject so i figure yall are the ones to ask. I'm looking at the link to that Holley page posted above, and am wondering when they say for example on the 10.6:1 CR 383 stroker that the stroke is 4.000" and the rod length is 6.125" how exactly do they do that. Do the stroke each cylinder 4 inches more than stock or is that what the final stroke length is gonna be once they are done with it?
And what exactly is deck height, compression height, and deck clearance. Also, what is the problem with a bigger stroke and spraying, and i guess i might as well ask why should there be a lower compression for running a turbo or SC? Again, sorry for all the questions, but they whole "science" of stroking and boring an engine has always been something i could never really understand on my own. Thanks in advance.

Its going to be over 500 pretty soon. I am adding the EWP and the 90mm setup.
It ran 7.2 at 102 only time at the track. My car isnt really setup for the track. 3.42 gears and a 1.85 60 foot time.
