Default Scratch on cam bearing journal.

Hi huys,
I just bought a used TSP 233/239, but noticed that it has a scratch on the rear cam bearing journal. Do you guys think this will damage the cam bearing?

can you feel it with your fingernail? if yes, a regrind / polish / matching bearings may be in order. if no, I'd take some scotchbrite and lightly run over it to take off any potential burrs and run it.

You can feel it a bit. I'm going to try to sand it down a bit with fine grade sand paper. What do you guys think/suggest?

If that's the case I would take it to a shop and have them try polishing it out at first. you're going to get a flat spot if you take that out with sandpaper. I think that would be worse than doing nothing about it.

Dude...Not worth it. Contact the seller and get your money back! Probably why he sold it.

It's not badly scorn, but you can feel it a bit. I'll look at it again to make sure.

I would not use sand paper or scotch brite. Find some crocus cloth its what the machine shops use to polish things like this.

I think it's funny how many people are telling you to just use it and take the risk of wiping out a cam bearing/having oil pressure issues. That cam would never toutch my motor. Why take the risk over saving $100-$150 on a cam? Do what you want but I think these members telling you to use it would look at it differently if it was thier car. Send it back and buy a new cam.

I would just polish it and use it, even if it was my car. The tolerances should be okay. If possible, I would get your money back but may not be that easy.

That cam was dropped by somebody. If that is how you received it, send it back.

I haven't had the chance to take the cam over to a machine shop, to get their opinion on it, but this is definitely not good. After I do this, I will go from there and contact the seller.
