Actually a supercharger would be something much easier to install, and could be done by yourself, or a friend or two

Cheaper. Easier to install. Easier to drive. Pros.

Cons. It'll be slower (of course - that can be changed with a pulley swap). Not as reliable (especially if you start swapping pulleys and running high boost on the stock block).

well with that being said, what do you think my best route would be to achieve and 11s car? Money is not a issue as ive saved for quite some time to do this ... i would just like to get the best bang for my buck, but i would like to maintain reliability

You can get into the 11s with just a cam and suspension work in an LS1. Put some nitrous on there and hell 10s are possible.

The best bang for the buck, and minimal down time, you should look into a D1SC procharger. This will take a max 1 day to install. After that, get a tune and you are in business. I am not sure how much a new kit goes for, but I think a used one on here goes for around 4.5k. Plus the attention of the whine from the blower is priceless. On the other side, look around he and install university to see if you could do a heads and cam swap yourself and save on labor. These engines are very easy to work on if you just read and re-read, good luck!!
