Like I said. If you were in the neworleans area I'd help you out. Unless you want to research to do the install yourself your pretty much at the mercy of the shops. Unless you have a buddy or 2 that know what's going on.

Where are you located? You can buy the parts and install them with an LS1tech buddy for significantly cheaper than that. Plus, LS1tech buddies labor is cheaper and frequently payable in beer.

im going to make some calls tomorrow, between the intake, TB, injectors and headers along with the cam and heads...my bill would be nearly 11,000.00 .... for that price and for the power gain, i can buy a 383 long block from Texas speed for around 6,000 ... and i think it would put out more power than what i would be paying for to begin with...lord knows it would be cheaper ... maybe im wrong?

Labor for $1200 seems about right unfortunately.

Why you are buying a complete cam package with valve springs when the TFS heads include valvesprings is the mystery. And the price on the TFS 215s is high. Should be in the 2450 range.

Also, that package price of 1500 seems like a lot on the camshaft.

Figure, $400 cam, $100 pushrods, $90 timing chain, $10 wp gaskets, $10 crank bolt, $140 oil pump, $20 plugs... $770. Add an LS6 oil pump for $90. $860 max.

Also, the 1200 should include header install since they have to change out the exhaust manifolds anyway.

I provided the breakdown.

A lot of the money you might have in parts (such as intake, exhaust, etc) would be there whether you built the engine or not. Same goes for the heads/cam/gaskets. The difference is you aren't paying the $3k+ for the shortblock (and figure to install it, will cost even more in terms of labor, since most shops just do a head/cam swap with the shortblock still in the car).

Btw, check out Race Proven Motorsports in MD. What's your breakdown in parts? You have a clutch/converter? Exhaust? Etc in there as well?

Sounds about right.

The labor should include a dyno tune. The only problem I have is the camshaft "package" - you should be about $700 less there. And the TFS 215s had better be milled at that price.

Depends on the cam. I'd say 130-150HP from a base LS1.

Cam is not specified ... guess ill have some thinking to do ... big price for 150HP for sure ... The LS 427 with 580HP and 560ft-lbs is suddenly looking better

580HP at the crank isn't far off from where you'd be. If you can get above 450rwhp (which is very easily done with the TFS 215s), you'll be in the 500-550HP range depending on where you fall north of 450. I think you could hit 470-480 with an aggressive camshaft, which would be close to a 170-180 gain in total.

Btw, I'm talking 150 to the wheels, not the crank.

And for the LS7 to make that sort of power, you'd still need fuel, exhaust, and driveline upgrades. I'm not sure I know what you're trying to get out of the car? You might be better off just throwing a supercharger on it for $8k installed.

Quick Reply: cam/head package?
