THere is more to this cam than meets the eye. Lou tried extreemly hard to make this so called HUGE cam work well in a 346, for power and drivability. Louis' car is extreemly tame, and is actually not that bad.
just because everybody and their mom has a cam that is less than 230 intake duration doesnt mean that its too big. Lou and crew ignored that fact and just got out the steel ***** and let them drag when they put that sucker in there <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />
Props to LG, and Im also glad to see that this has not broked into an all out flamefest <img border="0" alt="[angel]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_angel.gif" />

the word "obtained" sure did ruffle some feathers. its not like i said "stole, robbed, theived, swiped, ........". they have them, they obtained them. the fact that they will not reveal the person who sent the specs to them, makes them just as bad. if you protect a thief, you are a thief. as a buisiness owner, they should understand the need to know who to trust, and not to trust. thunder would be asking for a name if the situation was reversed. if you yourself would want to know, you should want the other person to know as well.

WOW. Those are amazing numbers and a stunning timeslip. I've been on the boards since 98' and it's been fantastic watching the progression of this engine and the sponsors. Congratulations LG! Side note; your suspension on my car is the only reason I don't get wheelhop and kick butt in autox. Keep up the incredible work.

Good God that is sweet. Lou and Rage how does the idle compare to the G5 original? I HAD it but the SHAKE at idle drove me nucking futs! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> This car will now become a Toy in the sense that I will only drive it for pleasure not for a DD. Pleasure to me is Ttops off, music loud, and a fast TA. I may consider a bigger cam then the TR224. Input please, and oh by the way, Nice Freaking numbers. <img border="0" alt="[evil]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_devil.gif" />

That was exactly why we wanted to keep it in house, So we could check the valve to piston clearance on each set of heads. It is not that hard to do, but any engine should be checked.
The funny thing is that cam specs are just cam specs, and numbers on a sheet are just that until they get put together in the correct way. Then after they are out, they look simple. Remember, that sheet has been out for a year now.

As someone else mentioned, this ought to give the doubters something to think about... I mean 11.1x on stock LS1 (as opposed to LS6) heads.
As for the cam its self, I have to say that I am impressed not only by the numbers it is putting out (on the dyno, and now on the track), but the relatively mild idle it has... I mean, don't get me wrong- it results in a pretty righteous lope, but now that I know the specs (those are some pretty serious numbers <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> ), it's not NEARLY as nasty as I would have thought it would be. Then again, maybe Jeremy's tuning has something to do with that... <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
As Lou mentioned, I wouldn't be too terribly surprised if we start seeing more and more standard split cams coming out (as opposed to the single/reverse split cams that seem to have been the result of most of the recent development work on these motors). The G5X2 is rolling proof that you can run a pretty healthy-sized (standard split) cam on pump gas in a daily driver and it won't be as unruly as many of us previously thought.
Good stuff from the fine folks at LGM; kudos to Lou and the whole team up there!! I'd say that the only track numbers that the cam has produced so far are pretty F'n impressive. IIRC, there is a H/C A4 car waiting in line for the G5X2... it'll be pretty interesting to see what happens with that one.
However, what I am REALLY waiting for is for someone to have the huevos (and bankroll) to do an all-bore 382 with this setup on it... 510-525 RWHP anyone?? ;D

Lou I had a question a few months back if a 232/238 595 605 on a 112 would fit in a stock short block and you said no, so yours seems bigger and it fits, what am I missing here..

i was at the track tonight and got vid's of his runs, i'll be ripping them late tonight to post....for those of you that think alan was stripped out when he ran this-think again....when he strips it out, it will go 10.6-10.7ish @HIGH 120's....the car came out of the hole HARD!!! and just kept pulling from there, i was supposed to get my ride in the car tonight, but alan had to cut the night short LMAO
