Default Help me decide between Speed Inc SI5 and Tick SNS2 Cam.

I am probaly going to cam my car after this summer when my budget is more friendly. My car is a 2000 Trans Am A4. Speed INC is putting a Yank SS3600 stall in next week. My car is a summer nice day only car, and goes to the dragstrip once or twice. It will be running the stock 853's for the forseeable future.

Specs:

Speed Inc SI5: 231/237 .589/.595 112LSA

Tick Performance SNS2: 227/235 .61x/.62x 110+3 LSA

The information on the Tick website for this cam makes is sound perfect for what I want, 1800-6400 RPM powerband, a lopey idle but not too big as to loose power under the curve. I assume the SI5 will give similiar performance as the specs are very close, but I only want to do this once, and I am not sure if the extra lift of SNS2 would make a large enough power difference. I know that 400RWHP is not likely with the stock heads, but I would like to get as close as possible. The car will have all required upgrades that go along with either cam and full tuning.

What are your guys thoughts? Or are these cams too large and I should consider may a 228 cam?

Thanks.

I recently purchased a SNS 3 from Martin and will be installing in the near future. Call Martin and he'll give you the full scoop on the SNS cams. These cams also come in a milder version if your worried about Lift and valvespring life. GL !

S15 here I am happy with it. Speed Inc always takes care of me. I made 372/372 that's with out ported tb, pulley, and a terrible y pipe. I am hoping for closer to 400 with the ported tb, pulley and true duals

I can only speak for the Tick Performance SNS Torque Max Stage 2 cam because that is what I have. It's one hell of an "all around" cam. Not too big, but by no means too small. Great torque throughout the RPM band and the son of a bitch will carry power all the past 6500 RPM's.

I have the sns 3...I'd go with martin just for the fact that he is the only sponser on this site who constantly interacts with us/members. Giving advice, results, vids on all of his cams. His customer support is superb to say the least. Theirs a couple of his threads just below.

+1 for everything he said!

You should definitely give Martin a call and he can set you up with what you want. Street Heat stage 2 would be a good cam if you want someting closer to the SI5 cam.

You are pretty close to Speed Inc I think. That might make it an easier choice if you're having any shops around there work on the car. If you're doing it yourself, I'd go with Tick.

The Tick one seems that it will be more of a torque monster due to the duration, LSA and lift.

Running the SNS Stage 2 here. Love it! If you do choose the Tick Cam, you will not be disappointed in power as well as sound. Good luck!

Wow, thanks for all the kind words in this thread! OP if you have any questions on any of our camshafts, shoot me an email to martin@tick-performance.com as my PM's get pretty full and take me a while to respond to.
