862 Heads/LM7 Opinions
I plan on using my stock 862 heads off of the LM7 I am rebuilding. I plan on running a hotcam with LS6 springs, -2.2cc Wiesco forged pistons with the stock rods and crank. I already have new valves and the rest of the hardware for the heads ordered. All that's left is to clean up the ports at the machine shop. I will run a Victor Jr. intake and haven't decided on the carb size yet. Eventually, once it gets broken in, I plan on shooting a 100-150 shot into it. I know the 1.89 valves are rather small, but what kind of flow can I expect with the Victor Jr. and a totally rebuilt head? Any opinions/comments on this build choice? Pros, cons?

I run the 862 heads, and combined with the mods that you see in my signature I can tell the car has tremendous mid range power. Now I realize that your setup is a bit different, but I thought i'd throw that in there...

Awesome. You have no issues with the 862's? People seem to give them a bad rap just because of the small intake valves. Granted, if I could, I would probably run some LS1 heads, but since I need all the money I can get for a T56, these 862's are going to be on the engine for a good period of time.

Just thought I would throw this photo in here.
These are valves from eBay and for $100 they are some of the nicest valves I have ever seen straight out of the box, for a stock replacement anyway.

No issues at all! Now these are PRC stage 2.5/5.3 heads that were purchased from Texas Speed, so they have been ported along with different intake valves, and whatever else they do. For the money they are hard to beat IMO
