Texas Speed has great deals - ebay has super cheap ported heads, but thats your risk to take.

+1 on Texas Speed for good budget heads. I think my 5.3's were like $1300 complete

PRC stage 1 LS6 heads vs stock LS1 heads. If so then yes they will make more power

You might want to look into the PRC 225s as cast, they flow great and have more potential down the road for CNC porting. I think there around 1500-1600 range. But I am not sure if you are going the boost route with 317s.

The stage 1 is a fully ported head. The only difference in stage 1 and 2.5 is valve size and roughly 5hp. So yes they are way better than stock heads

If you are just looking for a stock reman head, Thompson Motorsports sells those. I've seen ads on ebay, even the 243 heads are only 599, not too bad considering most used 243's go for 4-500.

^^^We also have our aftermarket castings with high grade aluminum, bronze guides, CNC work on runneres and chamber and much more starting at $1349.
And to touch on the response above yes we do have reman 243/799 heads starting at $599.
Give us a call and we will help you find what you are looking for.

That's cool on the reman heads from Thompson for 599.

The 243s are worth 20HP over LS1 heads. But against the 317s, there isn't much difference - maybe 5HP due to increased compression; it's the same head.

The TSP Stage 1 would probably be up about 25-30HP over stock 243s. So you might see closer to 30+HP on an LQ9.
