Smile DAMN LS2 cam position sensor! FIXED!!!

I bought a new one today, replaced the sensor and STILL have no tach and the hard starting!!!!! I reversed the wires AGAIN back to the way it came on the male ended plug that goes into the sensor, STILL have no tach and still hard to start. I switched them BACK to the suggested swap way again and it's still the same.

My next step is to pull the harness and check it, but it's SUCH a pain in the *** to get to on the back of the intake area. What the hell is going on? Bad harness maybe??

Why me!!!!?

LS2 cam gear with a JWIS chain.

My tuner said a crank position relearn isn't neccessary and the car would throw a code for that.

I've been connecting directly into the sensor itself, but with the outside 2 wires crossed. If you get the extension harness from Speartech or Racetronix this is already done though, if you lengthen it yourself then you have to swap those two wires at the connector. I havn't done one in a few weeks but I think its pink and brown that get crossed, I can check in the morning and see which go to which Pin location.

Are you using also using the C6 harness in-line, it comes with most LS2 timing covers, about a 4" harness built onto the cover?

I'm using the Racetronix extension harness and I tried it with the wires left alone like how they come with the harness, no dice, then I swap the outer two like everyone says, the brown and red wires, still no dice.

Tired a new sensor, no dice. I took the extender harness off that came with the cover that moves it down to the bottom of the cover, and plug directly into the sensor, no dice.

I'm running out of dice here people Could my harness be no good?

I don't know, I just called my parts dude and told him I needed a LS2 cam sproket, and he got me one.

Combination installed everything and if it wouldn't work I think they would have known or said something.

Is there a difference? What about sensors, different years get different sensors too? I ask because the one that came with the cover was tan/grey colored, the new one I ordered was black with different numbers on it.

Thanks for the help!!!!

Ok, I got my receipt for the parts I ordered, here's the part number for the cam sprocket....

12586481 - LS2 cam sprocket

The number on the cam position sensor that came with the LS2 front cover I ordered is.... 12585545.

The new one I installed yesterday was black and had a different number on the top, not sure what it is right now.

Man life can't get any better than this! Well, I DO thank you a TON for helping me figure it out, now I just have to get that sprocket and change it out, how fun!!!

Should I use the orginal sensor that came with the LS2 cover and not use the new '06 black sensor I got?

In no way shape or form can you beat the help we get here. The only thing that would be better is if they came to your house and did it for you.

I'm reading every cam position conversation I can find. I have an 02 SS getting a P0343 code, hard starting and no tach. Changed the sensor a couple times, traced the pink and brown wires to the PCM and they are good. I can't tell where the red wire from the plug goes to. I'm completely torn apart now and want to hear any ideas before I put it back together. I had a comp cams xer281hr put in and everything worked for 1000 miles after the swap before this issue came up. Please help
