G5X1 stock heads - NEW numbers
Today Louis and I took my car back up to Speed Inc. to see if we could hit that elusive 400rwhp mark. Changes from the LAST pull (391rwhp and 379 rwtq) were open headers (6inch extensions), ASP underdrive pulley, and a short belt.
<img src="http://web.ics.purdue.edu/~lgigliot/alex/G5X1_thumb.JPG" alt=" - " />
All were SAE corrected, the MAFT was in place incase we needed to make changes, but the wideband wasn't cooperating.
Over 400 rwtq on a stock headed car! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Cool]" src="gr_images/icons/cool.gif" /> Louis and I are very pleased. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Big Grin]" src="gr_grin.gif" />

Re: G5X1 stock heads - NEW numbers
Them mustang 331/347/351 motors are having a real hard time getting over 400rwtq, I rarely see any. They mostly are in the 350-390rwtq range, most don't make 400rwhp. Actually most make more tq than HP because they insist on running really long intake runners.
Your 400rwhp is made by 5500 with a stock head.
This is outstanding.

I think when rageman sees this, he is going to go out and get some better headers. I am sure that Alan's headers were a restriction.

Re: G5X1 stock heads - NEW numbers
Awesome numbers, bud. Wish I could have made it up there with you guys today.
I think we are starting to notice a "trend" with these G5X-series cams. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />
401 rwtq!! <img border="0" title="" alt="[Eek!]" src="gr_eek2.gif" /> <img border="0" alt="[worship]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_hail.gif" />
Believe me guys, this thing drives as well as it dynos. Next stop: 1320!

Re: G5X1 stock heads - NEW numbers
it makes repeat numbers @ another dyno. it runs the numbers @ the track, it MPH's like a ****. the specs are out - whats the next problem w/ this set-up?
i think there are a few people that should step up and say a few words and swollow some pride. LG's dyno is high - pppppuuuuuuulllllleeeeeeeaaaaassssseeeeeee!!!!!!!

Glenn98ZM6- Well said! I don't know how many more hoops LG needs to jump through to prove this is a potent cam. I know I'll be placing an order as soon as the gubment gives me back my hard earned money! <img border="0" alt="[cheers]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_cheers.gif" />

Holy Smoke--11.18 with a cam car only is super. The MPH is incredible. Great Job at the LG company. Cheers. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Wink]" src="gr_images/icons/wink.gif" />

Re: G5X1 stock heads - NEW numbers
I'm with Glenn and Ramair346 here... let's go through the list:
"But it only makes big numbers on the big end!!"- Heh. Take a look at the FAT torque curves on the dyno graphs for both the G5X1 and G5X2. Not peaky at all.
"But you have to wind the hell out of the motor!!"- looks like both cams make their peak power between 6000 and 6500 RPM. Either way, that's not all that far above the factory rev limiter.
"But it hasn't been proven on another dyno!!"- Hmmm. Looks like this one doesn't really apply anymore either.
"But it hasn't been proven at the drag strip!!"- Now it has. Guess what?? The track times prove out the dyno numbers.
"But LG's dyno reads high!!"- Really?? Someone oughtta tell the folks at Speed, Inc that theirs is F'd up too, then. <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
Come on, folks, all of you that were runnin' all that smack a few weeks ago, where are you now?? Be a man, step up, admit you were wrong, and learn from the experience; just because the latest and greatest H/C package doesn't come from your favorite shop doesn't mean that it's <img border="0" alt="[bullshit]" title="" src="graemlins/gr_bs.gif" /> .

Most of us don't drive around the street with open headers and a short belt <img border="0" title="" alt="[Roll Eyes]" src="images/icons/rolleyes.gif" />
