Engine overheating at idle?

Engine overheating at idle? I have a 1998 Z28 With an automatic transmission.
My car starts to overheat when idling or stuck in traffic, which is a bit of a problem since I'm selling it monday.
It stays cool when moving, but once it stops moving, it starts to overheat.
Any help would be greatly appreciated, since I'm kinda on a schedule here to sell it. Thanks.

Your fans are probably not coming on....or one is out. Or maybe they are not going into HIGH settings.
Next time you see the temp around 215 or more.......pull over and put your hand behind each fan....see if they are BOTH running. They should always run together, and run in LOW and HIGH together. Or OFF together.
Check the relays if they aren't running.
Fans are the only thing that keeps the engine cool at slow speeds or in traffic, or idling.

I let my girlfriend drive it too work, she brought it back at the stock running temp. I let it run until the fans SHOULD have come on.... they didn't.
Any idea as to how that is fixed?

Exactly what LS6 said. If it's ONLY happening at idle then the fans aren't working.
Check the fan fuses to ensure they're not blown, and just go ahead and replace the rely. I'd highly doubt its a wire issure. Never hurts though to poke your head under there and ensure the wire didn't pull out from the plug.

Checked the fuse for it under the hood (40 large type.) and it has black...something on the inside running across the connector prongs. The relays all looked good, no visible burn marks. Not exactly sure HOW to test the relays, but outward appearances seem good.

I found some spare relays from my TA before it was totaled by some stoner kid, and fixed the problem. Now the car is in the hands of young kid with a level head and a love for Camaros.
