I have switched to the Amsoil Z-Rod oil because it maintains the higher levels of ZDDP and phosphorous. The EPA has mandated lower levels on the newer oils and highly loaded surfaces aren't going to be protected. Most of us here are not running stock so loads on surfaces, such as rockers, pushrods, etc. , are going to go up with poor protection from the oil.

Not saying this is the cause here, but food for thought with your new rockers.

Yep - I'll definitely be running that oil or similar. Redline also makes a bonifide zddp additive - 1 bottle treats 12 quarts of oil.
