Default YT rocker spills needle brgs

Went to change my engine oil and found needle bearings stuck to magnet on drain plug, a bit surprised since no engine noise. Pulled valve cover and found one of the rollers on the end of the rocker with a lot of movement, here are some pictures:

About 10,000 miles on a little 212/218-.522/.529 comp cam and pac 1221 springs, with open pressure of around 140 lbs. I don't think these rockers could have been having an easier life than this, must have been made on a Friday or something.

That sucks to see. Is there anyone out there that makes a quality 1.8 rocker?

Yes a properly designed cam dosnt use 1.8.

On a street car there is no reason to use a 1.8 pick a grind of the proper specs that uses 1.7.

Got to Love when you get scolded for using parts that you desire, for your information this ratio works well with the low lift and ramp rates of this cam.

There is a reason they don't design cams around 1.8 stuff for unless it uses ls7 valve train.

Right and wrong ways to do everything.

Why do you think mast puts ls7 geometry on alot of there heads? It is not just the rocker arm

Ask a custom cam guy about using 1.8 on a set of heads that are not layer out for them.

Gray ******, what happens when you need to run a specific lobe like an LSL/LXL for softer ramp rates but the lift isn't enough to accomodate the heads you are running? Where the lift is perfect for your springs and heads if you use 1.8 rockers..? What do you do in that situation?

My cam guy designs cams correctly that don't have to be fixed with rockers.

Again, desire is the reason for the 1.8's. I never said the cam I'm using is "properly designed".

thats good news

what oil were you running, op? looks like there's some pitting on the roller from what I can tell of your picture... just wondering if the problem started there, in the bearing, with head geometry or a combination of them all

5w30 Castrol edge, no pitting on roller just some scratches where it was not spinning freely.
