Default AFR 205 Mongoose Heads?

So I have the opportunity to buy a set of AFR 205 Mongoose heads ported by Tony Mamo. Currently I'm cam only (torqued v2), bolt ons, ls6 intake, and a 78mm nitrous outlet plate. The price of the heads is $1500. I know that AFR makes excellent products however with all the new heads coming on the market at very fair prices I'm wondering if I should just take a pass on the AFRs. I have had my eye on the new AI ported RHS/Dart heads and the new PRC as cast 225s. What are everybody's thoughts? Also what questions should I be asking the seller regarding what Mamo did to the ports/valves/milling etc? Thank you everyone.

Also, forgot to mention that I'm thinking about moving up in cam size as well when I do the head swap. Thinking about going with either custom EPS or the Tick SNS stage 3. Car is not a daily driver. Only about 1000 miles a year if that. Thanks everyone

I'm always leery of buying used heads. So take that into consideration. If it's possible to get them checked out prior to purchase, do that. Or if you plan on sending them off to Mamo for a once over and freshen up, I'd certainly do it.

Ask if he has any receipts or proof of additional work done by Mamo.

Also Ask if he has Flow numbers.

Tony doesn't port them, he un-shrouds the intake valve for the most part with a little bit of blending. So, because he opens the chamber (about 2 cc) you need to mill to get back the compression. Make sure to account for this when you size your cam. I went with a 0.040" Cometic and with the 224/228 I am running was below minimum on the intake side. Don't get me wrong, this setup performs but if you want a big cam and these heads are milled you may need to fly cut.

Tony's work is beautiful by the way so there is no question on that. But I would ask what the setup was that these heads came from and ask what rockers he was running. If he was running stock rockers, then I would not buy them as I would bet money they have worn guides.
