Default Is this piston bad?

I got some used pistons for a screaming deal and I was wondering if this one is bad? There is some very small dings on one side of the skirt. The pistons are JE915 -29cc. Let me know what you guys think.

looks like a porous casting, what type of pistons are they? I would use it without thinking twice and I'm fussy.

Has the pistons been recoated or is that a casting flaw. Hope that's not spray paint

I would send that pic to the manufacturer and complain about the flaw. You might get a replacement for free, and if not, at least it will be well documented if that cylinder takes your engine out.

Like I said, I hope that's not flat black spray paint, If it is and you install them they will seize up in the block. I would take me a rage with a little paint thinner and see if it comes off.The mark on the skirt, looks like a gall mark, piston trying to seize to the cylinder because of lack of oiling.

I would send them back to JE and have them inspected and recoated if that is in fact, spray paint. When you rub your finger over it, do you feel any roughness protruding up from the area?
