Double row timing chain/melling oil pump clearance question

I just put in a double row timing chain, and when I put on the oil pump (with the spacers included in the timing chain kit), the chain looks awful close to the oil pump casing. I's say it's less than .05, maybe like a credit card's thickness. So is clearance clearance here, or should I grind a bit off the back of the pump housing? Also, will my stock LS1 front cover fit over all this? Tough to tell in the pics, but here they are.

I changed out the stock oil pump bolts with grade 10.9 mushroom heads to make some clearance. I think that should do the trick. Also my melling pump came with a large red o-ring. Any idea what it's for? I know about the black and green for the pump pickup, and the red and blue springs. No mention of it in the directions.
