Default Double row timing chain/melling oil pump clearance question

I just put in a double row timing chain, and when I put on the oil pump (with the spacers included in the timing chain kit), the chain looks awful close to the oil pump casing. I's say it's less than .05, maybe like a credit card's thickness. So is clearance clearance here, or should I grind a bit off the back of the pump housing? Also, will my stock LS1 front cover fit over all this? Tough to tell in the pics, but here they are.

It looks fine, but the area that it hits is right behind the pickup tube flange. Mellling casts a little relief there for clearance, but it will still rub a tad.

Typically the front cover will need to be ground on a bit, and sometimes the pump too.

the chain doesnt move sideways, so if it clears its fine.... thats how all double chains and melling pumps look.. youll need to grind down the front cover some though

I changed out the stock oil pump bolts with grade 10.9 mushroom heads to make some clearance. I think that should do the trick. Also my melling pump came with a large red o-ring. Any idea what it's for? I know about the black and green for the pump pickup, and the red and blue springs. No mention of it in the directions.

The springs are for the pressure relief in the pump. Blue is "low pressure", the red is "high pressure".
