Over revved ls1
Ok so heres the story, I was driving down the freeway, Pulled up next to a challenger n said to myself ima smoke it, so i go into 3rd n smash, then while i was gonna power shift to 4th i hit 2nd, right away i put da clutch in but the car started tripping n turned off, as i was going about 80-100 i had to coast off to the side, the car wouldnt start for about 15-20 minutes, then it finally started, shaky n weird, as i gave it a lil bit of gas to kinda give it more fuel to get it going, i got the ses light, shaky n misfiring cyl 8, i went home took it apart found 3 bent pushrods, replaced em with stock pushrods that i got from my buddy that had jus built his ls1, n turned it on n it still clicks n ticks n shakes a lil with the p0308 code, sumtimes it goes away n sumtimes it comes back, i got no broken valve springs n all the rockers felt the same nothing out of the ordinary, i switch coil plug n wire from 8 to 2 to see if there was a problem there, nothing, so my question is wat might i have damaged if i checked that n replaced da bent pushrods, any ides? Comments? Im extremely upset at myself for this n i would never imagined it happening to me but its done now, i jus wanna repair it....

I tried that method with an Oldsmobile 72 Cutlass 442 back in the day. A few miles down the highway it throws a rod and I have motor oil all over the highway. I would trailer that baby and look into the motor before you fubar it. Better safe than sorry.

Damn, that sux bud.
My lil bro did this with his first car, an 89 Ford Escort GT. He went from 5th to 2nd on the highway doing about 75, dropped the clutch thinking it was 4th to climb a hill and then started smoking out the back. He said the rpms went through the red and that was it, right around 7500rpm or so and then lots of smoke. He towed it home and I removed the head off it and found the #2 piston was missing, must have broke loose and found a new home in the oil pan below, we sold it for scrap the week after for 1k. Funny though, he only got it for $200 cash.

I think I'd try n find a ride to wrk maybe ask someone you wrk with. Things are only gunna get worse even if you baby it. Park it pull the heads go over the top end and take it as a learning experience.

Id start by pulling a valve cover
Theres a good chance it broke a spring, bent a pushrod, or a rocker puked out the needles.
Id look there first before i started tearing it down

Like ultraz stated earlier park it and get a ride with a coworker or hop on the bus...you don't wanna do more $ in damage...and word to the wise always have a back up car if your out racing ur camaro bc they always wanna break when you don't have a backup...in retrospect its only going to cost the price of some head gaskets and head bolts to pull the top end and see what you working with...

I did this except from the top of second into first gear, instead of third. Intake valve ended up kissing piston and cracking it. Ill bet you might see the same damage prob worse bc you were going faster. Keep us posted!
