Default LQ4 Crank Questions...Help please

I'm doing a 6.0 swop in my fbody with my 6speed trans. I just realized today that I have the earlier 6.0 motor with the long crank. At this point my only option is to change the crank out...I'm aware that the 5.3, 5.7, and 6.0 cranks are the same stroke and will interchange. I have a good 5.3 crank that I would like to use. My question is will I have to rebalance since I'm going with the shorter crank?

Thanks in advance for the help!

You'll need to balance the rotating assemble because you're maiting con rods, pistons to a new crank. Not all wear down equally.

IIRC you'll also need a new rear plate for the correct crank size. Not 100% on this.

Thanks, Kinda figured it would have to be rebalanced. Just not what I was wanting to here.lol I'm pretty sure that the rear cover is the same though. The crank is the same size as the other 5.3 and 5.7's. Its just longer and sticks out the back of the rear cover.

Anyone else ever ran a 5.3 crank in a 6.0 without rebalancing?

I called McCloed or centerforce they have made a new flywheel for the early 6.0 motors with a thicker crank to mount a t56.

the purpose of balancing is to match the crank bob-weights with the corresponding mass of the pistons and/or rods. If you change to larger pistons, the crank is no longer correctly balanced.
