Does the heel of the updated rocker clear the valve cover? Asking because I have Lunati shaft rockers that look a lot like the updated YT's and they do not fit without rail spacer and mod's to the spacer itself.

its close without shim - with shim you're going to have interference...at least that's my mileage. yt sells thicker valve cover gaskets to address this issue.

They do clear. They are VERY close to the AFR heads at the valve cover rail, but don't touch.
That would not have made me happy........

The Lunatis will be good when you get them to fit, they make excellent products.

Any photos?

Miami, I have them cleaned and at work, I'll have a look see sometime this week. We have some microscopes that cost way more than my car......

Any updates?

I'm in the market for YTs but I'm still waiting to hear how the new version is holding up.

More than 3 years the YT Ultralite version 3 is sold all over and not one breakage reported yet...does that means something?

I installed YT Ultralite's on my TFS 215 heads back in March 2009. The heads come with 450 open PSI springs, and I used 7.5 Comp 5/16" pushrods. Also had the G5X3 114 XER cam. I always used Mobile 1 15W-50 oil, and use a 160* stat to keep the engine temps down.

In October 2011, #5 piston let go destroying the block. So I installed a TSP 418 strocker & reused the cam and heads. Last year I installed an EPS 234/242/.600/.615 117+2 cam. Also installed the BTR Platinum valve springs that have ~50psi LESS open pressure. So I'm sure that I'll never break a rocker arm.

What open spring pressures are used that's causing the rocker failures? YT also makes a Platinum series rocker for extreme valve spring loads.

You should go back to your 450 open pound springs. Anything over 420# breaks the old design yt but the new design can take them. You need around 450 # to control the yt or else they will be unstable

Like I said, I had the 450 #open pressure springs since March 2009, and that means that I also had the old design YT's. I don't need anymore than the 400#open pressure springs as per Brian Tooley and Geof @ EPS. As my new cam is a lot more stable than the XER.

My car pulls hard to the 7100 RPM fuel shut off without missing a beat.

Hey Russ,

My orig post was spoken tongue in cheek. Obviously not all of that vintage broke. Probably a bad batch of raw material.

On mine that broke, open pressure right around 400 lbs.

It never hurts to have a spare in the glovebox though.

:-)
