Bearings were inspected they are fine. I thought they would be trash as well.

ARP says to install with loctite on the threads and arp lube under the head of the bolt and torque to 85ft-lbs. I went with their recommendation.

Nice work OP, make sure you put a degree wheel on it and check your cam is correct. You have it out of the car and are paying close attention to other details, best to check this as well

Tackled something I have been putting off for a long time... Ripping out the
damn dashboard. I never ever want to do this again. PAIN IN THE F***ING ***!

The reason I am doing this is to finish up the HVAC delete.

Finally got everything out. This is like 4-5 hours later mind you. My A/V installer went absolutely apeshit under the dash with zipties. I easily cut 50+.

Vent tubing, HVAC core and airbag removed.

Delete panel installed and sealed up.

Will probably start putting the interior back together tomorrow hopefully it will go much smoother than before. I am canning my idea of relocating the ECU
inside the vehicle I dont even want to mess with it at this point the dashboard got me all messed up.

Will keep the updates flowing as always.

I have been pretty damn lazy lately when it comes to this dashboard thing but got it wrapped up finally. Here are a few pictures of the progression of it.

After the dashboard was remounted I could begin on the nightmare of wires in my car.
Audio, remote start, line lock/traction control panel and finishing up the a pillar gauges.

Routing wires is much easier now considering behind the dash is 80% empty space. This got uglier before it got better!

Dash is all buttoned up (minus the beauty covers underneath). Somehow cracked the outside plastic on my Alpine 9835... pissed about that. Just a
faceplate replacement on this model is $300. Did a quick HVAC **** delete plate out of the plastic the vent tubing was made of.
ABS sheet is on the way. Line lock and traction control wiring is reconnected to the panel.

A pillar is wired in. Made a custom harness that came out pretty well to minimize wire bulk. Temporarily secured with zip ties so I don't waste push clips
incase something is wrong with my gauge wiring. Should be good though. Autometer Carbon Fiber Series, trans temp, oil pressure, wideband.

While I had the gauage cluster out I placed some black tape over the ABS, BRAKE and AIRBAG lights.
Didn't want to have to mess with the needles to get the face off to desolder the LED's.

Currently waiting on another parts shipment. Will be arriving over the next couple days. From there I will be able to have the engine completely assembled
and work on getting everything back together. My goal is to have it running within 3 weeks.

Let's get it crackin.

Got the lifters in and the heads installed. Cleaning and then lubricating 30 studs,
washers, and nuts is no fun. After everything was buttoned up I installed
some light checking springs to measure for pushrod length. New pushrods on the
way and will be able to continue progress shortly.

One thing I decided to do since my new tires just came in the other day... Time
to get them mounted and balanced. Can't wait to slap these puppies on.

Soon..... soon....

i did an hvac delete as well....only since i figured i wasnt going to be putting it back in...i just broke it into pieces and removed it. mainly because the dash cracks so easy and ive managed to keep it in one piece.

Yeah I had a crack right above the steering wheel before removal. Much worse now. Going to buy a coverlay for it when everything is said and done.

Wonder if there are any aftermarket dashes that aren't as fragile as OEM.

I've spent some time looking around. Nothing I can find without going custom. Even then nothing is guaranteed. :-(

It's been awhile since i've done an update on this but we are nearing completion.
I have an appointment with NicD to have it tuned on the 5th.

We are in overdrive mode now!

Fast forward from the last update:

Heads mounted with GM MLS gaskets torqued to spec as per ARP
Motor mounted back to K member via solid mounts
Transmission reinstalled w/ sfi flexplate & circle d stall
LS6 valley cover installed w/ new knock sensors
4AN steam vent system installed
Measured for pushrods and ordered

Knock sensor harness installed (new) with RTV dams
Pushrods installed and rockers torqued to spec on base circles
Cleaned up valve covers and coils/bracket and installed
Cleaned up the transmission case a bit while I waited for the pushrods to arrive

Installed my UMI 3Pt SFC's
SJM ABS Delete completed minus one connection (K Member)
Intake manifold/throttle body installed w/ new gaskets/front foam piece only (drainage)
Engine harness and all wiring connected to block
Lifted up the car ready to accept the goodies!
Current time 2:54PM

Progressing nicely, getting it all lined up to begin lowering.
Current time 3:01PM

SON OF A BITCH! K Member did not want to line up for me for the longest time.
Got it in and tightened up K Member bolts and tower bolts
Reinstalled my UMI Torque Arm Relocation/Trans Brace
Current time 6:14PM

Another goodie came in the mail. Chilling in my living room. Wife isn't even mad. Great woman

TSP Rumbler catback

It's on and crackin. Deadline is looming.
