Default Car doens't start sometime?

I have a problem, my car won't start at times. When you turn the key on everything comes on, but when I try to start it noting happens.
I will play with the negative wire on the battery, and it will start sometimes. if you hook it up to a battery charger and it will fire up other times. Most of the time it starts and runs great, there are just some times that it wont.

The battery is new
Wires on the battery are tight
After a few min it just starts up.
May only do it once a month or so.

I am sure there is a short somewhere or something is not ground right, just woundering if anyone has any ideas for me?

What about your security light is it on when it wont crank? Could be the bendix on the starter.

Does it make at least a click when you turn the key. I just went through the same issue and it was my starter.

does your car have long tubes or shorty headers? i had a customer with that intermitten starting issue and it ended up being the starter wire that had shorted to the shorty header. if not remove your starter and take it to get it tested. or just test it at home.

Look at the relays. I had the same issues. Once the starter realy and once the fuel pump relay. They were intermittent also.

I had a somewhat similar problem, car would crank but not start. Turned out to be the ignition relay. The starter relay and the ignition relay are the same, just switch them around and see if the problem moves with that relay. I think I paid less than $10 for a new one. Good Luck!

I hear a singel click aroung the fuse box; but not a bunch of clicks as if the battery was dead.

What does your key look like? Is it worn? Do you have a spare key, try it for a while and see if the tangs on the key have worn out and not making contact in the key hole. If so, order new keys.
