Called Summit today, they may or not machine the deck surface. The person I talk to did not know who did the machine work on the blocks. I am unable to get feed back on the number of blocks that need the deck surfaces machined.

I an hoping that Ls1tech can help.

According to the Summit rep, they do not cut the surface of these blocks. They only clean them up and put a nice finish on them. All blocks are treated the same.

ATK does the machine work for Summit. They are a vendor here. Talk to them.

This makes 2 different sponsors selling the same block saying they use torque plates so yeah I guess I'm saying your machines shop may have lied to you over a block. I don't know the exact circumstances but you probably should have called Summit when they fond a problem with the block, you may have gotten a different block or your money back.

My vote would have been send the block back and get a new different one.

Im not going to sit here and argue with all you guys based off someone SAYING they use a trq plate. I know for a FACT the block i got was not machined with a trq plate. End of story. Im not bitching I will just never buy another block again. Its as simple as that.

Why not give them the chance to make it right?

Bc its just not worth it. I ended up having to go 4.035 to get the block straight. I wasnt going to do that on a boosted engine so i had to wait until i had an NA build.

Does anybody know what the deck height of there blocks are, before and after machining? Does the machine shop not measure them and just does a standard cut? The GM tolerance is +/- .005 of the 9.240 deck height. I am looking for some real world numbers. Are these blocks so good that the decks don't need machining?

The bores have been covered in this thread.

I am afraid to ask about the squareness of the deck surfaces to the crank center line.
