Default Brian tooley valve spring life with 228r

How long can I run set of BTR springs with a 228rish cam? I have been reading these springs are very good and have no breakages. Could these be ran for like 30k miles or so with a 228r cam without needing changing?

what lobes is your camshaft cut on?
Not sure about the answer to your question but BTR makes some very very very nice springs, along with some other very nice stuff. I always check my spring pressures every 10,000 miles or so.

Yea check what lobes the cam is in on, if a comp xer lobe it will shorten springs life, and endurance lobe like an LSL will last longer, but springs are easy to change out will the on car tool...

Yes 228r is Compcam xer lobes. Guys, there is no expiration date or mileage on springs. You have to accept to check spring pressures once a year.

the 228R is a mild cam and with those springs you should be good to go for awhile. But as said before, i'd check them every 10k or so just for peace of mind.

Not to say, most of lobe camshaft designer (a few are on this board) are saying the XE-r diagram is aggressive and valve spring stressing!!!

That is pretty opposite to your statement...any Spintron development you want to share with us please?

Does someone make a cam that is proven to be easier on the springs?

Tick and BTR both make some lobes that do not devour valve springs. However as already mentioned, it just good practice to periodically check your spring pressures.

A Comp Cam with LXL lobes, would do the trick.
Just keep in mind it's a compromise between power and valve train longevity.
