Default Ls2 cam needs what to work in Ls1

I know theres probally a thread somewhere on this, but I couldn't find it nor was the sticky thread the answer.

I just got a ms3 cam for a ls2 cheap. was gonna use it in my 01 Ls1. forgot that it needs few things. as far as I have found I need a cam sensor ext, ls2 timing chain and a ls2 timing cover. anything else???

also I have 02 or 03 Lq4 block laying around havnt built yet. Does it have the Ls2 style timing cover? I hope so, to save me some money.

thanks

The cam itself shouldn't be any different. As long as it has the reluctor for he cam sensor on the back you're good to go...just put it in.

You need the harness for the LS2 cam sensor still. It will go from the back of the block down to the bottom of the timing cover. GMPP has the timing cover kit in one complete package though

You will need the LS2 conversion kit. The cam sensor on the LS1 is in the rear and on the LS2 its in the front cover so you need the front cover and wiring harness adapter. TSP sells the kit for a reasonable cost.

You may also need a 1x cam sprocket.

I'll post a pic when it gets here.. I planned on buildding that 6.0 to make 700hp at the flywheel.. so I need to do the conversion anyways.
