Default Water pump tear down

Anyone ever disassemble their waterpump, if so can you point me in the right direction of the steps taken? Like to get it down to the bare case.

For what? You can take the back plate off, they do sell a gasket for it....but in my opinion it's easier to just buy a take off pump in the classifieds...

Heating it up to 400 would most likely screw up the bearings and seals wouldn't it?

Good question. There was a guy here a few years ago having great luck PC'ing the plastic manifolds. I think your pump is gonna be much more trouble than it's worth, can't you just match it with paint?

Just disassembly and reassembly alone most likely would compromise the seal at the very least.

I could probably get it close but not exact. Maybe i should just paint it a satin black to match the intake.

I think I may contact an auto parts supplier to see if I can get a case before assembly. Powdercoat it then ship it back to them to assemble. That is what I am having to do with my alternator.

If I remember I believe there's a vendor that sells black water pumps if that's the color you're after..
